Mrs. Laura Chan

3s Assistant Teacher

Hi!  My name is Laura Chan.  This is my first year as an assistant teacher, but my 10th year working with young children in various roles.  In 2011, shortly after the birth of my second son, I held a position at the local YMCA in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. There I found my passion working with younger children and focused on early childhood development through arts and crafts.

Moving to Plymouth Meeting in 2015, I connected with a local family with two children from 4 months old to preschool age. I cared for them similar to how I cared for my own, spending a lot of time reading, setting up playdates to build social skills, and playing games focused on problem solving. The family moved during the pandemic shut-down and as things started to open back up, I was offered a job at DeStolfo’s Premier Martial Arts in Conshohocken where both of my kids take karate lessons. I'm currently an assistant karate teacher for the Little Ninjas, which is an introductory course for younger children ages 4-5.

I attended school in South Jersey and at Johnson & Wales University where I received my degree in Pastry Arts. Although Pastry Arts was not ultimately where I would end up professionally, I do love baking and spending time in the kitchen making my variety of things. I am married with two boys, Matthew and Brandon. Both of my boys belong to the Colonial School District and attended Storehouse. Prior to moving to Plymouth Meeting, I would commute from Roxborough to Storehouse so Matthew could attend preschool. I love the school that much. I am so grateful and beyond thrilled to have this opportunity to be here and to work with you and your kids!
